Seemingly the busiest month for the Club has just begun. August ended with two well played Captain's Prize Finals and an Italian Night to follow with the members feasting on a gourmet lasagne and tiramisu, and September has begun with a number of Open Competitions and a fashion show! Our Junior and Mixed Opens are very well supported this year with golfers coming from far and wide to compete at our wonderful course.

The fashion show is tonight - eagerly awaited by members and staff alike as our home grown models strut their stuff down the catwalk in some fabulous outfits. We cannot wait!

Social events have taken a flying leap this year thanks to Captain's Committee with a number of new events taking place. Coming up we still have a Cabaret Night, the Off Pitch Choir and a number of informal fun competitions to mix the wonderful game of golf with some delicious food whipped up by the Catering Staff working so hard as always in the kitchen despite having lost our second in command to the world of fashion as she masters her heels on the catwalk tonight.

With societies visiting daily our course is being well played. Please see www.wallaseyschoolgolfsociety.blogspot.com for tales of society days. We are pleased to see so many people enjoying the course and are thankful for the high praise we receive - testament to the work of the staff. If you would like to bring a society yourself, please contact us and we will fit you in if we can amongst the busy calendar.

Good golfing to all - we hope to see you here soon!

What a gorgeous Spring this is turning out to be with blazing sun and lots of pink noses returning to the clubhouse! I'm sure the Greenkeepers would tell us that the grass would like some rain though!

The season is fully under way with men's and ladies competitions and matches all being played. The course is in fine condition and is commented on by nearly all of our visitors - and our members too!

There are many fun competitions planned, including Captain's Charity Day and more social events that we have ever seen before so we hope they are well supported by members and guests!

Finally some golfing weather! Although a little chilly we are seeing many members and visitors out on our well kept course that has survived the winter perfectly! The green staff continue to work hard to keep our biggest asset in it's best condition!

The playing season will be starting in just a few weeks and the club is seeing a flurry of action and preparation from all angles. The influz of new members in the new year is providing the catering team with a full dining room every lunchtime and keeping the committee members busy interviewing, meeting and greeting!

Happy New Year to you all! I hope this year will provide us with some good golfing weather after the Christmas freeze!

With the snow and ice melted the course is busy once more with members' seemingly making up for lost time. The girls in the kitchen are being kept busy and the greenstaff are working hard to bring the winter programme up to date. Societies and functions are thriving and we have many more requests this year than I have ever known before. It must be the good course conditions and excellent food making a name for themselves in the golfing world!

Our membership continues to increase with new members joining every month, and please note our new offer 14 months golf for the price of 12! Surely that's not to be missed?

Here's to 2011 and a successful year for all!

Nearly Christmas already - how time flies! With the cold freeze upon us we hope to keep the course open as long as possible for members and visitors though if the snow keeps falling a closure may seem inevitable. Nevertheless, we have had many compliments about the greens and the course in general despite it being covered in snow and ice for a week! Thanks must be given to all the green staff who have endured a race against the weather to get further drainage and bunker work complete!

We have the last of our Christmas functions tomorrow evening with a private party and the staff are working hard in preparation for another good night. Out club functions, the christmas Lunch, the Christmas Party and especially the Carol concert were all very well attended and the festivities were enjoyed by members and staff alike! We were also very pleased to welcome Mrs E Munro as our Captain for 2011 and we shall all very much look forward to working with her!

We have enjoyed a very busy September with 3 very successful opens, Juniors, Mixed and Men's Seniors. Numerous social functions and dine ins with rave reviews have kept the catering, bar and greens staff exceptionally busy!

As club functions and competitions are now quitening down, we will see more societies on the course who can enjoy our facilities as much as our members do!

Fingers crossed for a mild winter although that doesn't appear to be forecast at the moment! The course has recovered well after last winter and we have had many comments on the quality of the course overall. I'm sure under the expert work of our staff, it will survive yet another snowy winter and we'll see just as many postive comments next year!

Coming up next we have the bi-annual quiz night - always a sell out! And in November a casino night and fun open. Fun to be had for everyone!

The weather hasn't hampered spirits as we continue to see plenty playing the course in the wind and rain, but thankfully, no snow yet! The Ladies' Autumn Meeting is currently taking place and I'm sure they will be glad to see some sun today. Many have signed up for the meal followin the presentation tomorrow which I'm sure will be enjoyed.

A very popular Texas Scramble Fun Competition has been arranged by Captain for Sunday and has been fully booked, with tee times extended! Another fabulous meal in the evening is also proving a hit!

The golf club continues to look for new members and would like to encourage as many new lady members as possible so if any of you out there are considering taking up golf or are looking for a new club, please contact us!

Private functions have been highly praised this month with a number of parties and anniversaries hosted here. We can cater for all your needs from the beginning to the end of your function giving you a stress free evening with fabulous food and a lovely venue. Please contact us!

It has been a busy month for all at Wirral Ladies so my apologies for the lack of updates. Societies, functions, evening parties, competitions galore and thanks must be given to all involved. We had a particularly successful barbeque with some excellent sausages! The delights appreciated by all, including some german guests! With competitions and fabulous entertainment, the night went down a storm! Also raved about was the men's open with the guests telling us we had the most organised open they had ever been to. This was backed up with a full lounge for the presentation which hasn't been seen for some time. We hope to encourage guests to stay for presentations for all out opens as it is such a lovely end to the day.

The course is thriving with many compliments being sent to the committees from members and guests alike. I'm sure the recent rain has been much appreciated as the course is starting to 'green up' again. Plans for a new scorecard are now well under way and it is hoped this will be in place in the next month or so with a more accurate course plan too.

An overwhelming response to our open day has now seen over 60 new members at the club with interviews still pending. We are so pleased so see so many new faces involved in the competitions and social events.

Today we have launched the Summer Sizzler to replace the Winter Warmer. A great offer of sandwich, drink and 18 holes of golf for just £22. The summer season is now well under way and the diary is non stop for the next few weeks with a Ham and Eggs competition on Friday, the bank holiday competition on Monday and the Summer Meetings, Ladies' Invitation and Mixed Invitation all coming in the next couple of weeks. Captain's Committee are working tirelessly on these events and we must show our appreciation for all their hard work!

Monday 17th May 2010 16:53
Yet another busy weekend with all working hard and tonight a business ladies' match as well. The next event coming up will be a ham and eggs and we hope there will be many signing up!

Monday 10th May 2010 18:07
A fabulous Mixed Open held yesterday. From all accounts, a very busy day enjoyed by all. Thanks must be given to The greenstaff for preparing the course in the morning, Angus and Iain in the shop, the kitchen staff for feeding hundreds of mouths throughout the day but mostly to our volunteers from Captain's Committee and others who organised and ran the day.

The sad news that our Assistant Pro will be leaving us at the end of this month has now reached most members and I think he is very much enjoying the attention of all the well wishers! Iain won't believe us but he will be missed and we wish him all the luck in the future . . . and hope for a percentage of his millions!

The course welcomed every drop of the downpour we saw on Saturday night and the drainage coped suprisingly well as sheets of rain came down over the course. I was privaledged enough to be at a function in the clubhouse at the time and must congratulate the catering staff for the outstanding level of service we received. The food couldn't be faulted and the homemade cakes were praised by all. A fabulous night! Two more functions on Sunday appear to have been equally successful and some weary staff are continuing today with the bank holiday competition. A glorious day for it!

Thursday 26th April 2010 17:23
It was lovely to see the clubhouse and course so busy yesterday with the Liverpool Alliance here and I hear that Captain, Past Captain the Pro and the Assistant Pro had a great game! The rain started today although it didn't seem to dampen the golfers' spirits as they were still heading out in their wet weather gear throughout the day. The course is certainly welcoming every drop after such a dry few weeks! A busy weekend starts tomorrow with numerous dinners and private functions. I'm sure the catering department will be exhausted by Monday!

Friday 23rd April 2010 18:35
The men's seniors' deserve a congratulatory mention for their 9 - 1 win today against Eastham Lodge, though I beleive both teams throughly enjoyed the match!

Monday 19th April 2010 11:00
The Spring Fling was a huge success despite some initial problems regarding a power cut! The catering team soldiered on regardless and produced a fabulous meal with a great night enjoyed by all!

Monday 12th April 2010 17:23
The golfing season is truly under way with some glorious weather. The B Team played today following a very successful Open Day yesterday. Our thanks is extended to all the volunteers who helped on the day taking prospective members out for a round and to Angus, our Professional, for his beginner's lessons. It seems everyone enjoyed the day and with 15 new membership applications already it really does look to hav been a great success!

Thursday 25th March 2010 11:27
The first competition of the year, a ladies' Stableford, has kicked off this morning with the weather so far looking clear. Good luck to all those playing and here's to a good year of golfing ahead!

Tuesday 23rd March 2010 14:37
Finally it appears Spring has arrived and with it, the members returning to the course. It is great to see so many playing again after the awful winter! The season is soon to start with our first ladies and men's competitions taking place over the next week.

Also planned is the Spring Fling for the members to enjoy yet another fabulous meal by Helen and her team with music and dancing to follow.

We are pleased to have taken a further function booking for the summer and thank the kitchen and bar staff for all their hard work in encouraging outside functions to return year after year.
